(More customer reviews)I spent the extra money on the Sony speakers because I thought their materials/build quality would hold up better in the harsh marine environment, but after about a month on our 38 foot catamaran these speakers started to rust! Gradually a brown streak stained the speaker from the center cone to the bottom, leaching onto the fiberglass underneath it. While they still worked, I was surprised that a Sony product would start to degrade as fast as it did. Maybe it's impossible to build a speaker that won't do this, but in that case they should come in the color brown... Oh, the sound was great, so they still get two stars.

(More customer reviews)Amazon listed this remote as frequently bought with the CDX-M60UI Sony Marine Stereo/CD player. I thought this was a very good deal so I bought both. Turns out it wasn't that great a deal. The Stereo itself is great. The RMX55M remote however, does not have all functionality with the CDX-M60UI stereo. I would estimate about 60 to 70% of the functions actually work. The display will only show radio and Aux sources. It does not display CD or USB.
I then researched on Sony's website and found that this remote is not recommended for the CDX-M60UI. Amazon... please change your "Frequently Bought With" suggestions for both the CDX-M60UI and the RMX55M as both imply that they are actually compatible with each other.
The item came quick enough from DiscounsJungle, but came postage due!!! I paid for shipping. Why am I being charged extra?
I am going to have to send this remote back and get the RMX60M which is actually compatible with the CDX-M60UI. I hope the next two transactions are handled a little better.
UPDATE: I chose to keep this remote. After finding out that it is subject to a 15% restock fee on top of the shipping back to DiscountsJungle, then adding the $100+ payout for the RMX60M plus shipping, I decided it was not worth the trouble and $$$ to see the extra information on the LCD. After all, the important buttons work as they should. I will get the 60 when it becomes obsolete and is around the price of the 55.
I probably will not buy from DiscountsJungle again. Postage due... what a rinky dink outfit!

(More customer reviews)I purchased one of these subs to install in a friends' pontoon boat. I always go by specs first, then price, then name brand last. The power handling and free-air installation flexibility of this unit sold me, the price is reasonable, and the Alpine name and legendary build quality are just icing. I mounted this 10" sub in a cutout of the fiberglass helm station with the amp inside and the deck above, as this is the only real space available on a pontoon, and let me tell you, along with 2 pair of Legacy outdoor enclosures with a Pyle 2000w amp pushing it all this setup ROCKS! I was skeptical about what kind of sound I would get with everything being exposed but I would go with this combo any day- it rivals some car installs I have done for sound quality and volume. Now I'm looking for an excuse to get a couple more of these subs to put somewhere else.

We really wanted a matched set, but couldn't justify paying close to $100 for 4 when we really only needed 2. We were pleasantly surprised when each order was actually a pair of speakers. For under $50 we now have 4 matching speakers that look and sound great.
Absolutely no complaints.

(More customer reviews)I bough a pair of these speakers for the interior of my power boat because I trusted Sony. At the beginning, I was pleased with the quality of sound I got for the price, but my satisfaction did not last too long since both speakers lasted barely a year. About 9 months after I installed them the woofer cones showed brownish spots that looked like mold. Sometime after that, they warped, and eventually they blew up. They simply broke like a cracker!!!. There was no abusive use of them, whatsoever. No overpowering or water splashing. They may have only been exposed to direct sunlight for about 50 hours. I do not recommend this product, unless you install them well away from sunlight, salt and water.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a decent set of speakers for a reasonable price. I am normally moored in close proximity to other boats and keep the volume at a reasonable level. These speakers fit the bill. Sound quality is much better than the original speakers that came with the boat. Installation took about 1-1.5 hours per speaker as I had to enlarge the opening in the fiberglass. If the existing openings are the correct size it should take less than a hour for both.

I paired this with a nice set of JBL speakers and the sound is awesome. I have several other more expensive radios and this one is every bit as nice. I use this radio with my MP3 players, IPOD etc and it works perfectly. I have also burned MP3s to a cd and it works well with that too.

(More customer reviews)Well, it works. It resists splashes, but its faceplate is giant. You would like you would get a high-res display or some benefit to having such a big faceplate but nope. I bought this because it was pretty, I should have been looking at features like bluetooth audio for example. It works as expected and sounds great, the over sized faceplate and price and the lack of bluetooth are the only cons. Also don't buy this unless you can mount it somewhere very easily accessible because the display is hard to read at odd angles.

(More customer reviews)This is the third stereo I've had in my boat and I like it. It has lots of features and was very easy to install. Based on the other two stereo's I have used, this one plays cleaner, loader and allows my kids to use their MP3 players. I especially like the ability to put an MP3 CD in and let it play on shuffle for the whole afternoon. Some stereos take awhile to find the next random song, this one does it very quickly which is a big plus. The wireless remote is a nice feature but you have to be facing the stereo. The only drawback is when you change the volume if you accidently push on the volume knob, you go to the setup menu. Just a bit of a nuisance.

(More customer reviews)I have a hot tub with a Sony marine stereo built into the side. This means you can turn it on / off before you get in, but then you're stuck with whatever is on the radio.
I bought this unit, mounted it next to the tub in a gray weatherproof electrical box, ran conduit from the box to the stereo and voila! I can now turn it on / off, change the source, control volume and skip tracks on CDs without getting out of the tub. It came with a 20 foot extension for the main control cable, but I had to buy extensions for the red & black power cables.
