I don't like FM modulators and I wanted something that would charge my iPod as well as give me line out quality sound. I've been using a cassette adapter, but I wanted to have one connector do everything. And I wanted to be able to use my steering wheel controls to control my iPod.
You get everything with the iPod2Car Interface.
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. I don't have a CD changer, but my head unit will accommodate one. I simply had to remove the head unit, plug the adapter into the spot where the changer would go, snake the cable through the dash, plug in my iPod and enjoy the music. Total install time was just about a half hour.
There are a couple of reasons I like this particular interface among the many that are available.
1) The interface allows you to have full use of your iPod while plugged in. You can change settings, change playlists...basically anything.
2) The interface continually charges your iPod and automatically shuts it off when completely charged.
3) The interface automatically turns on and turns off your iPod when turning the vehicle on or off.
Some other devices only allow you to use certain playlists. Some don't allow you to make adjustments manually to the iPod while connected. Some don't charge the iPod. Some don't shut down and start up when starting the vehicle.
Sound quality is excellent. You can still change EQ settings on the iPod to find the optimal sound quality for the vehicle.
The steering wheel controls limit you to skipping forward and reverse and increasing and decreasing volume. However when you make changes via your steering wheel controls, you can see all of the resulting changes on your iPod.
All in all, it's a pretty slick device.
