(More customer reviews)I think this ipod controller works great and now that i got a scosche passport ipod chargeing adaptor it works perfect.
When i first got the IPC-106 and hooked it up to my eclipse CD-5000 it would allow my ipod nano 16 gig to hook up and be controlled properly but the ipod would not charge. My Nano displayed chargeing not supported with this accessorie but it did function in every other way. Even working with my steering wheel control for track skips and searches so i dont have to take my eyes off of the road to control the music. I did a little searching and found the scosche passport ipod adaptor. It arrived today and now my ipod charges and is controlled by my cd player. I was told that the problem is the old ipods( that this ipc-106 are designed for) used 12 volt power chargeing and the new ones like the iphone and nano use 5 volt power so the scosche passport converts the 12 volt to 5 volt I guess.
The sound quality difference between running the same ipod nano through my accessory input and now to this ipc-106 is amazing. I am told that the IPC-106 uses a different audio codec than the ipods headphone output and it shows. I had to turn up the source volume control to 18 when useing the ipod through the accesory input but now that the ipod is going through the ipc-106 i have the source volume control set at 0 and its still way louder at 45 on the main system volume that it used to be at 60. The clarity has improved ten fold. I get far less distortion from my bass and treble. I think the sound of my mp3s running through this adaptor sounds better than if i had put them on a cd and played it through the main drive as mp3s. Before installing the IPC-106 i didnt think the sound would be so different but i was wrong. It is amazingly cleaner sound.
I love my eclipse cd player and all it was missing was ipod control. Untill now. I would highly recomend the IPC-106 to anyone that has a compatable Eclipse In dash CD Player.
