(More customer reviews)I purchased these for my wife's car and installed them myself. I was a little concerned at first because I bought them before I actually looked at the "what fit's your car" selector, and of course, it said they would not fit. (I checked this before I bought them, but I guess I was looking at another set of speakers, not realizing that these really were not supposed to fit) We have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and I was putting them in the rear deck. As it turns out, the issue is the height of the speakers. The tweeter and mid range speakers stick up high enough that they would touch the rear deck cover. However, that only happens if you use the stock Chevrolet plastic speaker mounting brackets that come on the stock speakers. Using those brackets lifts the speaker about an inch above the actual metal surface of the rear deck. What I did to solve that problem was mount them the old fashioned way, the way we used to mount rear deck speakers back in the '70s and '80s. I got in the trunk and held the speaker underneath the speaker hole from inside the trunk, used a punch to scratch the spots for the mounting holes and drilled the 4 holes from underneath. Then took the speakers and put them in the top and screwed them in,and they fit just fine. I was able to put the rear deck cover back in just the way it came out and everything fit perfectly. Once installed, they sounded great. We have a Kenwood DNX6140 and these things work great with it. They sound really good, so much better than the stock speakers! It really woke things up. They have good mid range and highs and the base is much better than stock. They don't hit like a set of subs of course, but are much improved over stock speakers. Highly recommended.
