(More customer reviews)I bought this dash kit for my 1990 Mitsubishi Montero LS. I assembled it as per the attached instructions but when I was done the mounting tabs did not match up with those in my car, so it does not fit.
This kit is designed to fit on multiple vehicles. It does so by having multiple connecting tabs to match up with the specific tabs in the vehicle. You match it to your vehicle by following the instructions and cutting off all the tabs except the ones that will fit on your vehicle.
In the case of my Montero, I was instructed by the instructions to cut off everything except the tabs marked "B". I followed the instructions and the kit did not come close to fitting. I taped the old pieces back on just to get an idea for what other option would have worked and it looks like the brackets that matched were the ones labeled "E". My mistake was relying on the instructions that came with it rather than measuring everything first.
The lesson here is measure before you cut.
Now that I have already cut off the other brackets I cannot return the part so I am forced to buy another one and try again, which sucks. At least it's a pretty cheap part. It also seems to be good quality and it's pretty sturdy.
I have a second kit from a different manufacturer and I'll see if that fits. If not, I will reorder this kit and ignore the instruction book that comes with it. I'll update my review if I do this and let you know if my "fix" works.
So in review, the product is good but the instructions on how to install it were wrong.
